From 15 Aug 2023, the Vietnamese government decided to grant electronic visa (e-visa) for citizens of all countries and all territories with the extension of e-visa validity from 30 days to 90 days, as well as to augment the duration of stay for visa-exempted citizens of 13 countries to 45 days.
Specifically, on 14 Aug 2023, the Vietnamese government promulgated 2 important resolutions including Resolution no. 127/NQ-CP on applying issuance of e-visa for citizens of countries, territories; international border gates allowing foreigners to enter, exit by e-visa; and Resolution no.128/NQ-CP on amending Resolution no.32/NQ-CP dated 15 mar 2022 about visa exemption for citizens of some countries.
From 15 Aug 2023, Vietnam decided to grant e-visas for citizens of all countries and all territories, according to the Resolution no.127/NQ-CP dated 14 Aug 2023.

Besides, the new e-visa policy allows foreigners holding Vietnam e-visa to enter, exit Vietnam for multiple entries for 90 days. Before 15 Aug 2023, Vietnam has only been issued 30-day single-entry e-visas to citizens of 80 countries.
However, the law no. 23/2023/QH15, which takes effect on 15 Aug 2023, allows to extend e-visa validity from 30 days to 90 days. The law no. 23/2023/QH15 amending, adding several articles of the Law of entry, exit of Vietnamese citizens and Law of entry, exit, transit, residence of foreigners in Vietnam was approval by National Assembly on 24 jun 2023.
Furthermore, as per Resolution no. 128/NQ-CP dated on 14 aug 2023, the Vietnamese government decided to extend the duration of stays in Vietnam from 15 to 45 days for visa-exempted citizens of 13 countries.
Visa exemption for citizens of 13 countries: the Federal Republic of Germany, French Republic, the Republic of Italy, the Kingdom of Spain, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, the Russian Federation, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Belarus with the duration of stay up to 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type, entry purpose, based on fulfilling entry conditions regulated by the Vietnam law.
In summary, the new e-visa policy of Vietnamese government effective from 15 Aug 2023 aims to help attract tourism, investment, business cooperation and profits for foreigners to Vietnam.
